At Wegmans, providing our customers with great tasting prepared foods means having talented employees working in the Prepared Foods department. In the role of a Cook II, youll be an integral member of the team responsible for preparing these items and ensuring customers are receiving incredible service. If you have a passion for preparing food and are looking for the position to develop your skills and talents, this could be the role for you!

I will add value by:

  • Providing incredible customer service by effectively handling a variety of tasks including preparing quality items and assisting customers at the Chefs case; being sure to answer any questions they have about products and offer suggestions and solutions to help complete their meal
  • Following Wegmans core recipes and cooking techniques when preparing a variety of items in the Prepared Foods department; producing a consistent outcome that meets Wegmans standards of quality
  • Setting up and maintaining Chefs Case, ensuring products are well-merchandised to reflect Menu magazine themes and showcase quality and freshness
  • Working with team leader, focusing on growth and professional development, to learn duties and responsibilities of the job and be able to assist in performing tasks essential to the proper functioning of the department
  • Prioritizing tasks to ensure all items on the daily production list are made and enough food is available to meet customer needs, especially during peak times
  • Properly handling products, using equipment and keeping accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines

Qualifications

  • Provide incredible customer service, greeting customers and answering questions in a friendly manner, proactively offering assistance and providing accurate and timely information, making product/ service recommendations and accommodating special requests
  • Possess teamwork and diversity awareness by listening to others' points of view and recognizing and appreciating differences
  • Recognize and seek opportunities for continuous learning to gain new understandings, skills and knowledge
  • Properly handle, prepare, transport and store products; ensuring food and human safety practices are strictly adhered to
  • Possess organizational skills, prioritizing requests and department activities while managing interruptions and attending to details to complete tasks within deadlines
