Job Summary 13;
Under routine supervision, renders physical therapy services to an assigned caseload of infants who are seen as inpatients and outpatients. Services include patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent education, communication and coordination with medical and allied medical staff. Actively participates in departmental education activities and completes all requirements for the APTA accredited Neonatology fellowship program. Appointment as the Neonatology fellow is for one year (12 months) with no guarantee of employment by the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia beyond the one:year fellow appointment.

:Provides evaluations and treatment for patients, as assigned, through developmentally:supportive and family:centered care. Clinical practice is delivered in compliance with guidelines set by the department, professional organizations and regulatory agencies
:Uses appropriate outcomes measures to determine efficacy and effectiveness of therapy
:Employs evidence:based practice
:Researches the literature and existing guidelines, and benchmarks with peer institutions
:Applies this evidence appropriately to patient care
:Maintains productivity/efficiency rating of 50.
:Professional Development : takes responsibility for professional development based on critical self:assessment and reflection. Stays current on changes in physical therapist practice, education, health care delivery, and technology.
:Maintains current skills and knowledge by identifying own learning needs, both formally and informally, to practice a lifestyle of life:long learning. Maximizes opportunity for clinical growth and development within the department through mentorship.
:Achieves and maintains professional competence.
:Participates in an educational curriculum (inclusive of live patient exams and comprehensive written exams) as defined in the Neonatology practice analysis through didactic education and clinical experience.

:Attends in:services within the department and hospital as appropriate. 13;

:Clinical Education : assists with student program by providing observational and lab experiences for affiliating students. Contributes to the continuing education endeavors within the department and hospital.
:Seeks opportunities to share knowledge via case studies, clinical bottom line presentations, interdisciplinary rounds or participation in staff inservices.
:Interdisciplinary Communication and Coordination of Care
:Makes decisions judgments within scope of practice and level of expertise and shall communicate with, collaborate with, and/or refer to peers or other health care professionals when necessary.
:Demonstrates professional judgment informed by professional standards, evidence (including current literature and established best practice), practitioner experience, and patient/client values.
:Communicates with patients/caregivers, physicians, other team members, and third party participants regarding the patients goals and progress. Participates in patient conferences and developmental rounds as assigned as a member of the health care team.
:Understands roles and goals of other team members and able to makes appropriate contacts in patient care planning.
:Conveys appropriate patient coverage information when care is provided by other staff members.
:Identifies appropriate delegation of activities to PTAs, aides, volunteers, and support staff.
:Accesses appropriate resources to find information regarding policies, guidelines and protocols to promote evidence based practice.
