Job Summary 13;
As a member of the multidisciplinary Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT) patient care team, the genetic counselor provides all aspects of genetic counseling services to all Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT) families from the initial assessment and history, to testing options counseling, results disclosure, compete EMR documentation and follow:up. Services are provided in collaboration with the CFDT MFM/Reproductive Genetics specialists and genetic counseling team.
The role is primarily clinically focused with opportunities in research and education.
Job Responsibilities 13;
:Reviews patient information, obtains and evaluates family history, conducts risk assessments and recommends medical or genetic testing based on analysis.
:Documents in the electronic medical record and writes summary letters as applicable
:Counsels for a wide range of complex fetal anomalies
:Interacts with a variety of clinical laboratories
:Provides timely test result disclosure and communication with families
:Helps navigate the insurance landscape
:Assists with education/ mentorship within the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT) Division.
:Serves as a supervisor to Genetic Counseling graduate students during their clinical rotations.
:Participates in genetics education, including, but not limited to CHOP Genetics Rounds, CFDT Pathology Rounds, staff meetings as well as regional and national conferences.
:Participates collaboratively in a variety of research activities related to their specialized patient population, including, but not limited to initiatives within the CFDT/ Division of General,Thoracic and Fetal Surgery and DGD/Pediatric Genetics 13;

Board:Cert by the American Board of GC (1 Year) 13;
Required Education and Experience 13;
:Masters degree in human genetics and genetic counseling from an ABCG Accredited Program. 13;
Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
Additional Technical Requirements 13;
:Demonstrated ability in counseling, skills, techniques and other related areas.
:Subject to pressure related to emergency clinical problems.
:Must have a high degree of flexibility of skills and hours.
:Prior experience with clinical data or research data is preferred. 13;
