Job Summary 13;
Under the direction of a supervising physician, the Physician Assistant in Interventional Radiology is responsible for the direct care and follow up of a population of patients that match his/her Scope of Practice and skill set. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and research.
Daily duties include the following:
Inpatient rounding
Removal of central lines and drainage catheters
Troubleshoot feeding tubes and vascular access devices
Obtain procedural consents
Coordinate patient care
Formulate treatment plans
Order medications and labs
Review laboratory results and radiologic imaging
Perform follow up patient phone calls
Patient/family education
Participate in non:clinical projects and research activities
First assist in procedures
Independently perform procedures

:Utilizes advanced assessment skills to manage a cohort of patients. Performs and documents daily assessments. Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family:centered plan of care. Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan. Communicates the plan of care and changes to this plan to the supervising physician.

:Performs any needed advanced procedures that are listed in the Scope of Practice document and approved as a part of the credentialing process.

:Acts as a consultant to multidisciplinary healthcare team members.

:Participates in scholarly activities including research and education. Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings. Participates in the professional development of others and serves as an educational resource to the patient/family, nursing staff and provider team. Acts as a preceptor and mentor to support the development of physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, students and other health care providers.

Required Education and Experience 13;
Bachelors degree or Masters degree from an accredited physician assistant program.
:Minimum years/type of experience determined by division. 13;
Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
Prefer previous experience as a Physician Assistant
Surgical or Interventional Radiology experience preferred
Pediatric experience preferred but not required

Additional Technical Requirements 13;
Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities. Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively.
