Job Summary 13;
The Clinical Research Coordinator II (CRC II) will manage the daily operations of the Myelin Disorders Biorepository Project (MDBP). Located within the laboratory of Dr. Adeline Vanderver, this research project seeks to uncover novel genetic etiologies and better understand the natural history of leukodystrophies, a group of approximately 31 rare genetic disorders that affect development of the white matter of the brain, predominantly in pediatric populations. The knowledge gained from this project is expected to facilitate the development of more effective diagnostic tools and treatment options for future patients.
The CRC II will play a key role in managing this biorepository by working closely with the principal investigator, project manager, and technical staff to support the recruitment and enrollment of new study participants. The CRC II will be responsible for obtaining and documenting informed consent, managing clinical databases, and coordinating the collection and storage of biological samples.
The biorepository is a high:volume, fast:paced project, and a successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to multi:task proficiently; prior experience working or volunteering in a clinical research environment is strongly preferred. Outstanding written and oral communication skills are essential, as the position involves regular contact with physicians and clinical staff in CHOPs Leukodystrophy Center of Excellence (LCE), and with with patients and their families.
This position is intended for individuals interested in a career in in the basic or health sciences, and a successful applicant must have a demonstrable passion for academic research, as well as a desire to make meaningful contributions to a growing body of knowledge. The Vanderver Lab is a founding member of the Global Leukodystrophy Initiative (GLIA), an international consortium of clinicians, researchers, and disease advocates that seeks to build collaborative partnerships and will serve as a platform for industry:sponsored clinical trials.

Work closely with the project manager and principal investigator to streamline participant recruitment, enrollment, and follow:up for the Myelin Disorders Biorepository Project (MDBP);
Coordinate study activities with research collaborators at domestic and international MDBP study sites;
Serve as a primary contact for patients and/or families participating in the MDBP, including consent interviews, coordination of record/sample collection, and scheduling of research study visits;
Work with laboratory staff to monitor banked biological samples for future research use;
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills;
Possess excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi:task and prioritize duties;
Provide scheduling and administrative support to senior staff as needed;
Participate in the development and dissemination of scientific manuscripts.

Required Education:: BA/BS in a related field
Required Experience: 3+ year(s) relevant clinical research coordination experience

Preferred Education, Experience and Cert/Lic 13;
Preferred Education: MA/MS in a related field
Preferred Experience: 1+ year(s) relevant clinical research coordination experience

Additional Technical Requirements 13;
Previous experience using REDCap or other electronic research data capture systems is strongly preferred;
Prior experience coordinating or assisting with clinical research is preferred.
