Job Summary 13;
In close partnership with the Division Chief, responsible for the financial, operational, human resources, and strategic planning issues of the Division of General Anesthesiology, providing administrative leadership in the three missions of clinical care, research, and education. Includes the development and execution of programmatic goals, physician and staff recruitment/onboarding, clinical service expansion and staffing planning, program analysis and development, design, implementation and management of physician compensation plans, collaboration with other departments and affiliated organizations, execution of regulatory compliance activities, budget development, variance analysis, expense approval, and financial oversight of research activities, organizational design and support to divisional committees, and management of unique divisional projects.
Job Responsibilities 13;
1. Support Division Chief as primary managerial partner in divisional decision making
:Serve as primary managerial point of contact for all division faculty (currently 56); advise on, trouble:shoot, and carry out difficult faculty or staff human resources decisions; includes significant interface with both University and CHOP HR departments
:Develop staffing projections and advise on recruitment needs; support recruitment and hiring decisions and the smooth onboarding of new physicians and staff, including communication with all involved parties to assure completion of all pre:employment requirements
:Partner with Division Chief and program leaders (Medical Directors, Fellowship Director, Chief CRNA), as well as other departments (Surgery, Nursing) on strategic planning for new programs, expansion to new sites, and joint decision making
:Advise on the development of structure and goals for divisional committees to promote shared decision making within the division; staff and support the activities of these committees (Operations, Education, Quality and Safety)
:Develop and maintain robust tools for planning and managing clinical staffing, academic time, and complex on:call assignments for 24 CHOP Main ORs, 4 Ambulatory Surgical Facilities, the Special Delivery Unit, and 8+ non:OR anesthesia locations.
2. Manage annual financial performance for annual divisional budget of 35 M
:Develop the annual budget for the division, with the oversight of the Executive Director and Director of Finance. Review and analyze monthly financial statements to identify and understand variances and take appropriate corrective actions.
:Collaborate with professional and hospital billing offices and Epic IS teams to ensure accurate and complete documentation, optimize charge capture, and improve workflows
:Monitor trends in payor mix and collection rate.
:Assist in budgeting external funding sources (e.g., research and/or endowment accounts) and collaborate with the Research Institute to monitor performance
3. Manage faculty:and personnel:related expenses for the division.
:Maintain all changes in faculty compensation, FTE, and employment status
:Assist the Division Chief in the development and maintenance of faculty incentive programs, including group and individual metrics; maintain ongoing tracking of total annual compensation for individual faculty
:Approve all operational and professional expenses for the division, up to authorized limits.
:Maintain and approve time and attendance for CHOP payroll employees within division. 13;

4. Oversee administrative and clinical staff within division, both directly and through delegation to direct reports
:Direct the activities of the Office Manager and his/her team of administrative support staff.
:Manage research and clinical staff through delegated leaders (e.g., Chief CRNA, Research Manager)
:Approve paid time off; manage performance.
