The Admin Director:COG (Childrens Oncology Group) is responsible for the administrative and financial operation of COG research administration at the Research Institute at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia. He/she will oversee administrative functions for CHOP as COGs legal and fiscal agent. Responsibilities for COG support include oversight and management of: i) the submission of funding applications, negotiation and acceptance of award terms and conditions, and execution of subcontract agreements ii) the financial and business management of sponsored projects, iii) oversight of the COGent system, and iv) metric and benchmark reporting. A number of CHOP Research Administration staff directly supporting the COG program will report to the Director of CHOP:COG Research Administration, including but not limited to select Sponsored Projects Officers, Grants and Contracts Specialists, and Research Business Managers. The Director will coordinate operations with CHOP Research Finance, Sponsored Projects and Research Business Management, and Office of Technology Transfer staff supporting the COG program. The Director reports to the Senior Director, Sponsored Projects and Research Business Management and works closely with COG leadership including the COG Chair, COG Chief Operating Officer, COG Executive Director of Administration, COG Senior Director of Research Administration and Finance, COG Finance Director and COG Industry Sponsored Trials. The Childrens Oncology Group (COG) is an international, unincorporated cooperative group comprised of legally independent member healthcare institutions and professionals and ancillary personnel that conduct clinical and laboratory research and studies related to cancers that affect infants, children, and young adults.
Job Responsibilities 13;
1. Funding Applications, Negotiations and Subcontracts
:Oversee the sponsored projects administration of COG funding, including representing the hospital to sponsors and subcontractees.
:Supervise the negotiation of agreements, resolving issues through mediation.
:Serve on behalf of the hospital Trustees as institutional signature authority for COG sponsored projects.
:Oversee review of funding applications to ensure conformity with relevant sponsor guidelines, federal regulations and hospital policies.

2. Financial and Business Management
:Supervise the financial management of all sponsored project funding supporting COG, including grants, industry sponsored clinical trials, special purpose accounts, etc.
:Provide oversight of the financial management of all sponsored grants and contracts in compliance with hospital policies, project deliverables and funder regulations.
3. Direct CHOP Research Administration Group in Support of COG
:Represent CHOP as COGs legal and fiscal agent to COG sites and sponsors
:Communicate effectively across departments
:Ensure seamless, efficient and transparent processes for the CHOP:based research administration infrastructure in support of COG.
:Develop and maintain standard operating procedures specific to CHOP research administrations support of COG.
:Function as the expert for all aspects of the research administration infrastructure supporting COG and serve as the primary point of contact for COG grant PIs and COG staff seeking to resolve research administration queries/issues.
:Serve as liaison to COG Operations and COG Foundation

4. Manage the COGent system
:Ensure appropriate support for COG administrative and operational needs.
:Serve as system owner. Oversee upgrades and assist in the successful integration with other systems, as required.

5. Develop, mentor, coach and support staff
:Serve as a resource to the team to ensure challenges are addressed in an effective and efficient manner
